Longwy French Ceramic Blue frog "Orphee"

This blue frog was created by Longwy the French ceramic company who began their wonderful pieces in 1798 under Napoleon Bonaparte. During the 19th century they continued to flourish as they perfected their technique of enamel cloisonne. Their main trademark is the use of very fine crackles on their pieces as well as giving it a distinctive glaze. As the twentieth century came through they drew inspiration from Art Nouveau and Art Deco motifs. Today they continue to make wonderful pieces in the same tradition
